Any Ball Pool

Set up the balls in the triangle ‘any which way’. It doesn’t matter. The White goes in its usual place and is hit to make the break. The winner is the player that pots the last ball on the table, leaving the ball that they struck still in play.

In Any Ball Pool any ball may be struck in an attempt to pot another ball; e.g. striking the Red to pot the White, a Red to pot a Red, the Black to pot a Red, and so on. It’s just about impossible to play safe or to snooker!

How to Play

  • If two different colours are potted on the break, or the Black or White, the player may choose their next colour, striking any ball to do so. The White not brought back into play.
  • If one colour of ball is potted that is the colour the player must go for next, striking any ball to do so, but only for that visit, meaning if any ball is struck to pot a Yellow ball that player then continues to go for the Yellow balls or the Black, or the White, depending on which is still in play. The opponent can carry on on the same colour or another.
  • If the Black or White is potted the player may choose which colour to go for next, i.e. changing their current colour, or the Black or the White, depending on which is still in play.
  • Once all of a colour has been potted the player then goes for the balls of the remaining colour, striking any ball to do so; or, of course, the Black or White, depending on which is still in play. I.e. if all the Yellows have been potted the players then go for the Reds.

FOULS

  • If a player fails to pot a ball on their shot their turn ends.
  • If the ball that the player strikes goes in their turn ends.
  • If the player goes ‘in off’ on the final pot they lose the game.
  • If a player pots two different colours in the same shot after the break their go ends.
